Ok, well I wrote a few days ago about the BodyBugg I had purchased on Ebay. I have some stat’s that I want to share with you ! I couldn’t get a screen shot to show up good, so I am going to post my numbers. My goals each day are to eat 1350 Calories, and burn 2350 and to make sure I get my 10,000 steps in each day. I was away last Tuesday and didn’t bring it with me but put it on first thing last Wednesday. As you can see, this little thing has inspired me to MOVE IT ! Because we all have the answer to weight loss, eat less, move more ! So here is my last week in review !

Wed Nov 12th -

Calories Burned 2603

Calories Consumed 1205

Calorie deficit = 1398

Steps 15, 124

Thursday Nov 13th -

Calories Burned - 2967

Calories consumed - 1354

Calorie Deficit - 1613

Steps = 21,161

Friday, Nov 14th

Calories Burned 3425

Calories consumed 1098

Calorie Deficit =2327

Steps taken = 30, 179 ( I told you I’m moving more )

Saturday Nov 15th

Calories burned = 2920

Calories Consumed = 1340

Calories Deficit = 1580

Steps taken = 20,185

Sunday Nov 16th

Calories Burned = 3027

Calories consumed = 1430

Calorie Deficit = 1597

Steps taken = 23,472

Monday Nov 17th

Calories burned = 3069

Calories Consumed = 1187

Calorie Deficit = 1882

Steps Taken 27,703

So let’s see, it takes 3500 calories to lose one lb or so it has been told. Over the last 6 days I have had a calorie deficit which equals to about 3.21 lbs that would / should have been lost. Guess what, I weighed in this morning and lost exactly 3.1 lbs ! How is that for close ! I am totally sold on this for weight loss. I wish I would have found it long ago. Food logging is a breeze on the site and all the information is dead on with what you lose ! So it’s true, move more, eat less. Simple ! No wonder all the Biggest Loser contestants have such great success ( they wear these all the time )

I was so excited, that I ended up buying my sister in law one for Christmas, shes going to love it !

I just went to eBay and bought one there. They are called BodyBugg. Just click the link and type in BodyBugg and you will see great deals on them !

So that is the update. From what the BodyBugg Program is telling me I should be at my goal ( losing another 24 lbs ) by my Bday In Early February ! So here’s to GREAT products ! Love This !!!

Fat Free Chocolate Cookies

Makes 30 - Serving Size 1 Each - 53 Calories each

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup Karo syrup (light or dark)

3 egg whites (or 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp egg beaters)

Directions

Spray cookie sheets with cooking spray, or you can use parchment paper.

In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt, I usually sift them together to destroy any lumps in the cocoa.

Stir in corn syrup and egg white until blended, dough will be thick and slightly sticky.

Drop by rounded teaspoon onto prepared cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 9 minutes or just until set, cookies will be soft when pressed.

Do not over bake.

Cool on wire rack.

These are wonderful and I always make a bunch for the holidays ! Enjoy !

Well I wanted to get a post up on my newest little gadget ! I had been trying to get to it for a few days and finally found a bit of time.

I am sure we have all seen or watch the Biggest Loser ! I had wondered what they were all wearing on their arms for the longest time. I heard Jillian mention it a few times but still didn’t know what it was.

Well it’s called a BodyBugg and its made by Apex ! I have had mine for just over a week now and I just love it ! Let’s face it to lose weight you have to eat less and move more, there is no magic science to it. So I purchased this from ebay and I just love it. For instance, I did Tae Bo Boot Camp and I have always wondered how many calories that really burns. Well it burns 630 calories and each time I do it, it’s pretty close as to what it said the workout before !

So just what is the BodyBugg - Here is some information to help you understand how it works

The BodyBugg is the most accurate tool on the market for measuring caloric expenditure and tracking overall weight loss.

The BodyBugg Armband:

The BodyBugg uses a patented process for interpreting caloric expenditure called “sensor fusion” which was developed by Body Media, Inc. In this process the BodyBugg collects a range of body-data using multiple physiological sensors instead of a single sensor. Single sensor calorie estimation devices such as pedometers and heart rate monitors are far less accurate. It is this multi-faceted approach that enables the BodyBugg to see the wearer’s activity level more completely (whether they are running, resistance training, sitting, sleeping, jogging, walking, etc…) that makes BodyBugg such a reliably accurate device for caloric expenditure calculation.

§ The BodyBugg uses 4 different measurement systems:
1. The accelerometer…
2. Heat flux…
3. The galvanic skin response…
4. Epidermal thermal output…

The BodyBugg Digital Display Watch:

This device (watch) gives you up to date feedback and information directly from your body bug Armband via wireless communication.

Find out in real time on the display how many calories burned per min, per day, etc…

§

Great addition to the BodyBugg Armband

I have had success already with it and I love logging into the site to see my progress. You set your program up online and you can log your food intake ( which is so easy ) You just type in your food and add to the meal that you are having it. It also gives you a GREAT meal plan to follow if you wish or you can do your own.

I can’t wait to see how things go over the next 30 days with this great product! I think about all the weight loss items I have bought over the years, and I believe this is a GREAT GREAT tool !

Now the price. When the BodyBugg first came out it was over 500.00 ( GULP ). They have of course come down in price and I bought mine on EBay for around 150.00 which included 3 months subscription to the website and the display watch as well ( which is optional ).

If you are not a member of Ebay you can easily sign up, it only takes a few moments and its FREE !

I will be sure to keep you all up to date. I would love to put a screen shot of what it looks like ( a typical day for me ) via the website for the Body Bugg. I will try and get a screen shot uploaded so you can all see how much information it gives you !
I know I am looking forward to taking the rest of my weight off and I know that I will be wearing my BodyBugg for years to come. It’s amazing how it helps you stay in control !
If you own a BodyBugg or have a success story about using one, I would love to hear from you.
So I give 2 thumbs up to the BodyBugg ! Awesome product !
In Good Health,
Renee

HI ! We’ll I’ve returned from a visit with my In-laws in San Diego ! What a GREAT Town that is ! Love it ! Weather seems to be always perfect and all the laid back beach goers are awesome! So glad I went. Did a lot of soul searching, don’t we usually when we go on trips to visit family ! And hey, for 39.00 each way on Virgin America Airlines, I couldn’t beat that !

Tomorrow I start anew. I have a feeling that my life is going to take a few twists and turns over the next few months but I’m ok with it ! Sometimes you find out things for a reason and sometimes I guess it’s just meant to be, that being said, I am ready for it with a bring it on attitude, and I know that for me, working out , it’s the best medicine !

It always seems, as I am sure for many of us, we either work out like crazy workhorses and we eat stuff that’s bad for us, you know, the Oreo cookie here, the soda there. Then there are those of us that eat too a perfect T but lack on the working out part. I know, I have always done both ! I’m one of those work out like crazy but tend to ” graze ” if you will !

Well about 35,000 feet up last Friday I thought you know Renee, this is silly. What is holding you back from really getting the rest of this weight off for good ? And honestly, what better time to make up for lost time, or shall I said lack of Loss, than over the holidays and winter. I will be wearing those big bulky sweaters and no one will really even know, that is until Feb/March rolls around and the T-shirts start making their debut !

I’m done being the fat girl, that I decided at just about 34,000 feet. I’m done not being able to get it right. I mean, I know I can do this. I know YOU can do this, I know we can all do this. I guess for some of us, it’s such a fight, but I figure I just want to try doing both together, combining the working out and the eating well. I wonder what I can accomplish in a month. I mean, I really wonder.

Sometimes it takes family, sometimes it may take just putting on those jeans, but there are times when you just know you are ready to move forward again, jumping in with both feet.

Today on my return, once again up in the air, I thought and worked on my menu for freezing meals. I thought is this really going to be as good as I think it is. Well upon returning home, missing the kennel pick up for my dogs by 10 minutes ( thus costing me now an extra 190.00 ) I came home exhausted, unloaded the car, unpacked the suitcases, took care of the cat and fish and then sat down here to a Meal that I had already prepared and had frozen. All I can say is Delish and yes, It will work ! Loved that !

So feel free to join me on my Kick Butt journey of 30 days ! I’m ready to rock ! Let’s do this !

I cannot wait to share my little gadget I bought ! I left it at home during my trip ( didn’t want to set off a scene at airport security ) but upon arriving home, I am wearing it again ! I’ll share it with you tomorrow when I have a bit more time !

In Good Health,

Renee

Sorry I’ve missed the last few days, the lovely bug of Strep Throat and Sinus infection came to visit me and my entire family ! I actually got out to Vote but by the time anything was announced on TV last night I was OUT like a light ! I didn’t’ hear anything until this morning…

I have a few things to report, Updates on The Wii Fit, Great Review On The Ped Egg and My Newest Purchase, this little gizmo that all the girls and guys wear on The Biggest Loser !

I am so wiped out tonight I am going to go with my review on the Ped Egg ! OMG.. I have tried everything to get great looking soft feet, funny because when I was younger, I NEVER worried about that. Now that I live on the Farm, well, truth be known, I wear sandals ALL the time… and it wrecks HAVOC on my feet, trust me I have feet that look like they should be on one of my farm animals LOL !!!

I have tried socks with lotions built ” in ” , special scrubs, socks and plastic bags, you name it, I’ve tried it.

So I’ve read about the Ped Egg, I have seen in on TV, it’s all over each store and they seem to have a display at every checkout, so I thought, OK, I’ve spent 12.99 on so many creams, foot scrubs, etc, how could this go wrong!

Tonight was my first time using this awesome little egg and let me tell you ! After using it, it found a place right next to me in my nightstand because if my husband thinks he’s going to steal this from me and use it, he’s crazy ( he ended up taking my foot stone and as soon as I found that out, well I don’t think I’ll be using that ever again haha ) I will use this in the am when I get up, at first just a few times a week and with the results I have had already with just one use, WOW.

I bought the Pink Ped Egg which is donating part of the proceeds ( 50,000 ) towards Breast Cancer and I think that is awesome !

And I can tell you, I used this, at first a bit nervous, I mean, it did make me just a bit nervous after reading the directions which make it clear not to endure any ” pain ” yikes ! Well I can tell you, I really didn’t’ think it would work and I am happy to report, it worked wonders on the first try !!! LOVE THIS !!! Awesome product, just kicking my self in the backside for not getting this sooner ! I could have had GREAT looking feet all summer long.

If you have a chance to pick one of these up, do it You will be amazed.

They did have one with a Handle ” the new ” version. However I decided against that one. I am really happy that I did get the hand held one as I think you wouldn’t be able to judge and feel the control while using it, hence, not overusing it.

I am heading over to EBay right now to see what I can find there as far as refills go, etc. I am sure they have great deals, as always. I am finding doing my shopping online, at grocery store’s online, drugstores online and eBay, I am saving a great deal of money each month. You can see some of the great deals right here

If you buy and try a Ped Egg, Let me know what you think ! I can’t believe I have waited all this time to buy one. I have been missing out !!

More tomorrow on the Wii Fit update. I am on a mission and plan on losing another 27 lbs by Feb 2nd 2009 !

In Good Health,

Well I am always cooking up ” light ” or healthy foods and with all the rain we had today, figured I would start up again ! I am also still working on my ” healthy ” foods plan which will enable me to cook one day for 2 weeks, having portion size meals 3 x a day ready to go in the freezer ! This is one of the recipes I will be including but thought I would put it here for everyone to enjoy !

Low Fat Beef Barley Soup

Servings 8-10

1 1/2 Pounds of Ground Turkey

7-8 Cups of Water

4 Beef Bouillon Cubes

4 Cloves Garlic - chopped

2 Cups Sliced Carrots

1 1/2 Cups Chopped Onions

1 1/2 Cups Chopped Celery

1 1/2 Cups Green Peppers

3/4 Cups Pearl Barley ( not quick cooking )

1 tsp Salt

1 tsp Pepper

2 Bay Leafs

1/2 Cup Ketchup

2 - 28 cans of crushed tomatoes with juice

1 - 8 oz can Tomato Sauce

1. In Soup Pot or Dutch Oven, Saute Turkey until it loses it’s pink color, breaking it up in chucks as it cooks. I use a flat wooden spatula for this.

2. Add All Other ingredients

3. Simmer for 1 1/2 Hours

4. You can add more seasoning’s to taste, ex more salt , etc.

This makes A LOT of soup. So what I do is make it for dinner one night for the family and then I use the Ziploc Containers ( freezer - Twist and Lock ) and ladle the soup into the containers and freeze ! Great for lunches and quick dinners, and best of all, Low calorie/Low Fat. Approx 240 Calories per Serving ( 2 cups )

Be sure to keep watching for the New Recipe of the Day ! I have used a lot of these recipes over the time that I have lost my weight and they have become part of my everyday lifestyle !

In Good Health,

It’s that time of year again, when we reset our clocks and try to readjust to the time change associated with Daylight Saving Time (DST). Some of us breeze through the change seamlessly, yet others feel out of sorts for days. If you have trouble dealing with this sudden disruption in your routine, it is for good reason.

Even though your brain knows that the time on the clock has changed, your body’s internal clock does not. In the fall, when you’ve gained an hour of sleep, you might not feel tired, but you may get cranky when you have to wait an extra hour before your lunch break or when it feels like work should have ended an hour ago. When the clocks move forward in the spring, you’ll be robbed of an hour of sleep. That night, you may not be able to fall into your normal sleep rhythms an hour earlier than you’re used to, and you won’t get as much quality sleep as you need.

Since its inception in the early 1900s, DST has been the subject of controversy. Studies are contradictory, showing that DST has both positive and negative impacts on health, safety, energy consumption, and the economy. A sampling of the issues includes:

Health: DST provides more daylight for outdoor exercise and yard work in the evenings, which could improve fitness levels. It also provides more opportunities for sun exposure, which triggers vitamin D synthesis in the skin. However, more sun exposure could lead to higher rates of skin cancer, according to some experts. And research shows that heart attacks increase the days following the spring time change (when we lose an hour), but decrease after the fall time change (when we gain an hour).

Safety: In the weeks following the spring time change, there are more traffic accidents. But overall, during the course of DST there are fewer traffic fatalities than during standard time.

Energy Consumption: While it had been hypothesized that DST would help to conserve energy, several studies have shown that DST leads to increased energy and fuel consumption.

Economy: Some industries, like retail businesses and golf courses, benefit from DST, as consumers have more time to shop and play. But other industries including farming, theaters, and prime time television suffer.

Despite the controversy, one thing is certain—DST will be around for a long time. So here are some time-tested tips for dealing with the time change:

Start early. The time change is usually scheduled for the wee hours of Sunday morning, in order to reduce the disruption of the workweek. To give yourself more time to adjust before the workweek begins, reset one of your clocks at the start of the weekend, such as Friday night or Saturday morning. Try to eat meals, sleep, and wake according to that clock. When Monday comes, you’ll be on your way to feeling adjusted. However, if you have activities and events during the weekend, make sure you don’t get confused about the correct time!

Exercise. Working out releases serotonin, a chemical in the brain that helps our bodies adjust. Exercise regularly, preferably outdoors, and early in the day. A brisk morning walk is perfect. Avoid exercising too late in the evening though, as this could interfere with the quality of your sleep. Learn more about the connection between exercise and better sleep.

Nap wisely. Try to resist the urge to take long naps late in the day. If you get tired, take a short, energizing walk around the block instead. If you must nap, keep it earlier in the day and limit your snooze time to no more than 20 minutes.

Don’t imbibe. Alcohol interferes with normal sleep cycles, so don’t rely on a nightcap to fall asleep. Find out about other foods and drinks that help (and hurt) your sleep.

Digest. After the time changes, you may be hungry for meals earlier or later than before. Be sure to give yourself ample time to digest your dinner before heading off to bed. A heavy meal in your stomach will interfere with the quality of your sleep, too.

Lighten up. The right combination of light and dark can help your body’s circadian rhythm readjust so you can fall asleep on your new schedule and sleep more soundly. In the morning, open the shades and brighten the lights. Try to spend time outside during the day, if possible. Dim the lights in the evening, so that your body understands that it’s time to wind down.

Hopefully these suggestions will help you adjust more easily to the biannual time changes. If you’ve tried all of these suggestions, and you’re still having trouble adjusting to the time change after a few weeks, call your health care provider for more assistance.

So Don’t for get switch those clocks ! Hope everyone had a Great Halloween !

In Good Health,
