Hi Everyone ! Just an update on my weight loss progress ! I am currently down 6.4 lbs in 2 weeks and feeling great ! I have been running my 5-7 miles a day and also adding in some kick boxing ! I am excited about the 6.4 lbs and even more excited that I am losing inches as my shorts are starting to fall off of me ! YEA ! I am feeling awesome, clear mind, been faithfully working out and not feeling sluggish in the morning ! Love Nutri system. I did go ahead and write up my short reviews of the 3 diet meal delivery companies I used over the past few months. The Winner for me is Nutrisystem ! Awesome ! As always, feel free to contact me by using the Contact Me Tab at the top of the page ! So here we go -

1st Meal Delivery Service I used was Diet to go - Good food, easy to follow menu, about 145.00 a week, nothing to add to the diet, its’ all there. I did good the first week, didn’t lose the other weeks, and the sodium content is very very high. I am not used to that, as I’m not a salt user anyhow so I felt really puffy by week 2 1/2 - 3. Diet to go customer service SUCKS and I was not happy about a few things they tried to pull on me after I had placed my order on hold due to a vacation. Because of that I decided to go with my next choice. Their web site is VERY under developed and well, I wouldn’t order from them again.

We'll Cook the Food, You'll Lose the Weight!

My 2nd company I tried was Bistro MD. I have had about 3 meals from them. I ordered the 5 day menu and the food is excellent. The web site is nice and up to date. I ordered the cheapest plan which is 5 days and does not include your snacks which costs approx. 130.00 a week and the shipping I believe was 24.95, bringing it to 155.00 a week ( yikes ) And there has just been a price increase from what I have been told of another 20.00 a week, bringing the total to 175.00 a week. The menu was a bit hard to follow and figure out since they send the 7 day plan menu to follow and you only have 5 days, I found that a bit confusing but once again, the food was awesome and I still have some in my freezer LOL..

In the meantime I ordered Nutri System, my 3rd choice. Now keep in mind I did this way back in the 80’s and I remember the freeze dried crap and I was like no way. Well they have the new advanced menu, which is much better food then it was before. Now for me, I like easy. I need to have it easy because that is my whole point of not having to figure out what to eat when and having somewhat of a choice. My order came in this huge box ( LOL ) and it had breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and desserts all clearly labeled. I choose my own menu, vs going with theirs. The first order came to a cost of 293.00 total and that included the 10 % auto discount and a free week of food and shipping and food for the ENTIRE Month. You do have to add salad, veggies, etc, but this cost me a lot less then the others and the food is actually pretty good. I think one of the best things is that the community support is amazing on Nutri system, which I highly feel is the best part because lets face it, losing weight is not easy and being able to be in an active community is awesome during the journey. I did get a buddy bucks coupon ( and I can send you one ) and that was for another 30.00 off, so my next month’s food comes to 263.72 ;) I am actually saving money with this plan instead of doing the grocery store thing :) I love the fact I can log in at anytime and my next order is right there and I am able to make changes. So If I don’t like something I can take it off my next order, or, like this time I ended up changing my desserts around for all kinds of the chocolate things I like. By the Way, their Chocolate Chocolate Chip Pudding is to die for ! They have a category on the forum on how to Dr up your nutri system food and say use the pancake mix to make muffins etc. I have tried a few which are great, but I like easy and I find the food good without having to add anything special to it :) And the best part is I’ve lost weight on it.. I weigh in tomorrow and we had dinner out on Friday & Saturday Night and I almost had a whole bottle of wine ( when the hubby’s home I need to stay medicated LMAO ) hahah ! So not sure what the next weigh in will bring, but I have to tell you I feel great mentally ( clear mind ) and I have been running faithfully ;) Not feeling sluggish like when I eat crap and so far I have lost 6.4 lbs ;)
The other great thing about NutriSystem is that I do not have to fill up my fridge and freezer with the foods as I can store all the meals in the cabinet. I actually found it easier to pull my meals from the box, 4 days at a time. Purchased some shoe boxes from the dollar store ( a Nutrisystem buddy idea ) and put a day in each box. Simple. This is truly a no brainer ! Go Ahead and click the button below to check out their great website and it will also let you order and get 2 weeks for FREE ! In addition use the Contact me button at the top of my blog and I will send you a 30.00 coupon for off your first order ( Must be the 28 day package and you must be a new member to Nutrisystem.
So I tried 3, and honestly, while the food was great to excellent on the first 2, I also spent almost 725.00 in food and lost about 2 lbs ! YIkes ! That’s scary ! With NutriSystem, I really feel like not only is it the best deal, but it works !
I originally wanted to finish my weight loss journey without having to figure out any more menu’s etc. and this has been wonderful. I have Cancun coming up in about 5 1/2 weeks, but more so, Fall is coming ! My Favorite time of year and I plan on looking incredibly HOT in my Halloween Costume ! Everyone Have a GREAT day ! Remember, Drink your Water and Get A Workout in Today. I’ll be posting updated photos of me in the upcoming week ! In Good Health, Renee

Finally The Former Fat Chick Arrives………..

Published by Admin under Diet, Fitness, Health

Finally ! Here I am ! July is always a crazy time of the year for us all I am sure with Summer vacations and our kids out of School. In fact, I am writing this blog post while I am standing in line at a ” hip and trendy ” clothing store and there is literally 12 people in front of me in line and 7 behind me , and YES you thought correctly, only 2 checkers. It’s always like this at this store, something that you just have to adjust your time accordingly for if you shop here ! Of course there have been a few irate people and I have had to duck from a few flying clothing items being thrown back at a rack as they stomp out ! What is with That ? This is my first bit of ME time since the kids have been out of school and just a few days before we go on vacation ! And there is NO way I am giving up the Gucci and DKNY purse I found while browsing like a deer in the headlights !

Anyhow I wanted to introduce myself and tell you a bit about me, my weight loss journey and why I am so excited to be the new owner of Happy Beautiful Me !

I am a married mom of 2, living in Sunny California and currently run my own online business. The main reason for me wanting this website Happy Beautiful Me, is too not only share my weight loss experience journey with you all but to give you tips and ideas on things that have worked for me, those that have not worked and most of all the support that everyone needs while trying to shed the unwanted pounds that either have been around for awhile or that have tended to creep up on us when it seems no one was watching ;) I’ll be adding my story a bit at a time as if I typed the whole story from the start, it would take me so long that I could not actually start writing about all the tips and ideas that have worked, not worked etc. I went from at least 276 lbs ( the last time I weighed on my scale before I threw it out a 2 story window, honestly, I did LOL ) to 136 lbs and now have settled at just about 147 lbs. I am not done by any means. The journey took me just under 13 months to complete, but my life changed in so many ways and I am looking forward to sharing the story with you. I can tell you there was NO surgery involved and it was pure hard work and determination. I made several friends along the way and my main goal now is to share my story and help other’s succeed, because trust me, I have walked in your shoes and I know how hard it is.

So over the next several days, weeks and months, I will share my story, my photos and my life. I am also an avid ” tester ” of products and I love to share when products actually do what they say and you don’t end up with a zillion bottles of face cream, body lotion, eyeliner’s and fad diet books on your bookshelves ! Trust me, If it’s out there, I have probably tried it ! So as far as things I use or try or may try in the future, I’ll share with you the Good Or the Bad !

So Welcome to Happy Beautiful Me, I hope you enjoy your stay and more so I hope that I help you on your journey to a Happier, Healthier And Beautiful YOU !

7 Deadly Sins of Dieting

Published by Admin under Diet

Got this through an email from Nubella today.  Definitely something to live by. Check it out!

You’re completely committed to losing weight. You’re even counting calories and eliminating fast food. But no matter how hard you try, you won’t reach your goals if you fall victim to certain dieting blunders. Read on to uncover the seven deadly sins of dieting—and to ensure weight-loss success.

1. Choosing a fad diet. Although some of these plans may seem to work initially, any pounds you shed on them tend to come back quickly and in greater numbers. What’s more, fad diets can pose serious health risks. The same goes for most diet pills. According to experts, you should plan to lose a maximum of two pounds a week; any plan or product professing to help you lose more than that should be treated with a healthy dose of skepticism.

2. Leaving exercise out.
Many people make the mistake of thinking that cutting calories is all it takes to shed pounds. Although watching what you eat is surely part of the puzzle, it doesn’t tell the whole story. The National Weight Control Registry (NWCR) found that 94 percent of people who successfully lost weight increased their frequency of exercise. So be sure to make physical activity a part of your dieting regimen.

3. Going it alone. Losing weight is hard, but without a support system, it’s even harder. With nobody to tell you put that doughnut down or remind you about your 6 A.M. aerobics class, your chances for success are going to be lower. If you recruit a buddy, it will make you feel more accountable for your successes and setbacks—and help you to lose more weight, according to a Brown Medical School Study.

4. Being a yo-yo dieter. The constant ups and downs may not only be hurting your waistline; they could also be harming your health. In addition to the discouragement that may accompany rapid weight cycling, yo-yo dieting has been linked to long-lasting negative impacts on metabolism, according to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). As if that’s not enough, yo-yo dieters may experience physical problems, such as a decrease in muscular strength and endurance, thinning hair, loss of coordination, fainting, weakness, and slowed heart rates.

5. Piling on the extras. You may think you’re doing your body good by eating that salad, but if you’re just loading it up with creamy dressing and full-fat cheese, there’s nothing diet-friendly about it. Instead, substitute high-calorie condiments for lower-calorie alternatives. If you usually opt for ranch or blue cheese dressing, switch to vinaigrette (if you’re dining out, always ask for it on the side). And if you generally use mayonnaise, swap it for mustard—you’ll save nearly 40 calories per tablespoon.

6. Depriving yourself. This behavior can only last for so long. At some point, you’re going to break, say Harvard researchers, who found that diets that are too restrictive will most likely lead to bouts of overeating or binge eating. Try eating smaller meals and snacks throughout the day, which will help to jump-start your metabolism and stop you from feeling famished by day’s end.

7. Giving up too soon. It takes a great deal of dedication to shed pounds, and results don’t just happen overnight. The key, according to experts, is resisting the urge to throw in the towel, no matter how many setbacks you may face. Remember, the road to weight loss is a journey with many twists and turns—but when you reach your goals, there are many rewards to be had.

During the day I’ll have some dried fruit, or I’ll have a chocolate or strawberry frozen yogurt. I don’t really eat desserts or bread.”
